Overview

What is an Adult Day Program (ADP)?

An ADP is a program of out-of-home social/physical activities and basic medical care for older adults and is designed both to reduce social isolation and to improve life quality while providing respite to caregivers and families.

Why Are ADPs Needed?

The physical, mental and social changes that come with aging can bring challenges that individuals and their families all too often face alone. The result can be social isolation, degradation of life quality, caregiver burnout, and premature institutionalization.

As the Baby Boom generation enters its 70’s and beyond, this is likely to be one of Canada’s foremost social challenges of the next decades.
